There are 2 areas of my life where I had complete control before I met Gary and now I have none: wine buying and grilling. I don’t know how the wine thing happened, since I love wine and we even got married in Napa, but over the years it did, and as long as there is a bottle ready for the drinking, I’ve realized that I don’t miss having to actually choose and buy it. Occasionally I do worry that he’ll be on a business trip and, in looking for something to pair with my leftovers, I’ll open a $25 or $30 bottle of wine, but hey – I’m worth it! (more…)

From The Kitchen Table

They say that necessity is the mother of invention, and of course, most moms would maintain that “mother” is the key word in that phrase. As a mom, especially one with an entrepreneur’s heart, I am constantly thinking “I wish I had a product to help me do xxx” or “why hasn’t someone come up with a better yyy?” And I know I am not the only one whose brain works like this. Sometimes of course, it works in reverse, and I’ll see something and think – yes, BRILLIANT idea, that is exactly what I need. Of course, this thought is usually followed by a “why didn’t I think of that?!”

From the Kitchen Table will highlight cool businesses, be they products, services, sites, etc, created by moms! Not all the “creations” will be for moms, but I am guessing, since I tend to see a lot of the world through my mom colored glasses, that most will be.  We all know how hard it can be to be a mom, how hard it can be to work, and to do both and still have the time and energy for your work to be creating something from scratch, well, that’s definitely something to celebrate.
